The Hidden Heaven vacation rental website featuring a welcoming Big Bear mountain retreat design.

The Hidden Heaven

WordPress Web Design · Responsive Design · User Experience

The Hidden Heaven is a Big Bear vacation rental website built on WordPress to create a welcoming digital experience for prospective guests. The project combines thoughtful content organization, inviting visuals, and responsive web design to help visitors explore the rental, discover local attractions, and plan their stay.

Designing a Digital Welcome

A vacation rental website should inspire visitors while making essential information easy to find. The challenge was to create an inviting, easy-to-navigate experience that communicates the character of The Hidden Heaven, showcases the Big Bear getaway, and helps prospective guests explore relevant property and destination information.

1. Research — Understanding Visitor Needs

I considered what prospective guests need when evaluating a vacation rental, including property information, local attractions, seasonal activities, and practical trip-planning details. These considerations informed my content strategy, page organization, navigation, and visual hierarchy, with a focus on clarity and usability.

2. Wireframe — Organizing Content and Navigation

I planned the website’s content structure and page layouts to create a logical visitor journey. The goal was to make important information easy to discover, establish clear relationships between sections, and guide visitors naturally through the rental details, local experiences, and supporting blog content.

3. Design — Creating the Mountain-Retreat Atmosphere

The visual design combines warm golden yellow, deep blue, black, and soft neutral tones to create a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere. Typography, imagery, spacing, and consistent design elements work together to establish visual hierarchy and support the identity of The Hidden Heaven.

4. WordPress Development — Building the Website

I brought the design to life in WordPress, developing the website’s pages, navigation, content sections, and responsive layouts. I refined the presentation across screen sizes and considered accessibility through readable typography, sufficient color contrast, descriptive links, and meaningful alternative text for images.

5. Result — A Website Ready to Welcome Visitors

The completed WordPress website brings together visual design, content organization, and responsive functionality to present The Hidden Heaven as an inviting Big Bear destination. The project demonstrates my ability to translate a design concept into a cohesive website while considering both the visitor experience and practical content needs.

Design takeaway: Great web design connects atmosphere with usability—helping visitors imagine the experience while making the information they need easy to find.
